Our Arizona Adventure
The Grand Canyon State
We came into Arizona in early December, 2009, along a very scenic US 60 into Phoenix. Being unable to make connections with a friend we continued on I-10 towards California. A nice liesurely drive we spent the night "camping" under the stars in a rest area.
We returned to this fine state in late January from Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. The new bridge wasn't quite finished yet. We spent some time in Kingman while a winter storm came through causing havoc in Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon thus causing us to change our plans. While at Kingman we made a side trip to Oatman to see the burros and an old gold mining town on old Route 66. This is a MUST SEE if you're in the western part of the state. We moved south and walked across the London Bridge. How awesome is that! And to think they built the bridge and then dug out the channel beneath it. From there it was back to Phoenix where we met Sheriff Joe Arapio and then south towards Tuscon. We visited the Biosphere II (another MUST SEE) and then spent a couple of days camped out near a fire station in Tuscon. We went to the Pima Air Museum and boneyard. If you like air museums don't miss this one.
We will return to Arizona as there are still places we want to see.
