Our Texas Adventure

The Lone Star State

We spent some time traveling east to west in December, 2009 after a nice four day visit with a Marine buddy in Vidor. We took half a day to visit the USS Texas. If you plan on visiting this battleship, plan to spend the whole day. Any time one travels "through" Texas it's a journey. We basically headed to the panhandle and it took us a couple of days to get there. We spent one night behind a fire station. In Parma they wouldn't let us pitch our tent but did provide a motel room. Good thing as it was 3 degrees in the morning! We visited Emerald Lake which was a beautiful blue. This would be a good place to spend a few days - in the summer time. From here it was south and into New Mexico. We will be back.
